Monier is here to guide you through the latest building code changes, making compliance easier.

The National Construction Code (NCC) sets the minimum standards for safety, health, and energy efficiency in Australian buildings — helping ensure homes are comfortable, compliant, and built to last.
Monier roof tiles meet all the requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC), which means they’re designed to keep your home safe, strong, and weather-resistant. Tested for tough Australian conditions, these tiles help protect against fire, wind, and heavy rain. When you choose Monier, you’re not just picking a stylish roof — you’re choosing peace of mind for your family and a roof that’s built to last.

Roof Tiles: What’s New Under NCC 2022?
NCC 2022 is the current standard, adopted from 1 May 2023, with key energy and condensation* requirements in effect from 1 October 2023.
The National Construction Code (NCC) 2022 introduces major changes aimed at improving the energy performance and condensation management of homes across Australia, creating new expectations for thermal efficiency, roof design, and material selection. The energy performance requirement for new homes has been raised from 6 stars to 7 stars NatHERS* energy rating, creating new expectations for thermal efficiency, roof design, and material selection.
Key changes include:
- Terracotta and concrete tiles now listed as non-combustible material.
- Revised insulation and ventilation requirements based on roof types and climate zones
- Condensation management introduced for cold climates (Climate Zones 6–8):
- pitched roof with flat ceiling require less ventilation level due to the extra air-space
- vapour permeable sarking is recommended
- Recognition of colour impact via solar absorptance (SA)* values
- New pathway for tiled roofs to meet new weatherproofing requirements in commercial projects.

Quick Glossary
- Condensation: A potential consequence where damp surfaces promote fungal development that can damage materials and impact indoor air quality.
- SA (Solar Absorptance): A measure of how much heat a surface absorbs from sunlight.
- DTS (Deemed-to-Satisfy): A predefined compliance pathway in the NCC.
- NatHERS: Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme – software-based energy modelling.
CSR is here to simplify compliance. Our brands — including Bradford, Monier, and others — provide tested, compatible systems that meet NCC 2022 challenges head-on. From roof to wall, we’ve got a solution to help you deliver safer, smarter homes.
